Dynamics of Institutions in Water Resource Management Workshop
January 9-11, 2008

In recent years there has been an increasing interest in the study of the dynamics of social-ecological systems by combining case study analysis, experiments and formal modeling. We believe that the area of water resource management has exceptional potential for deriving new insights concerning how institutional arrangements change over time at different spatial and temporal scales.

This workshop brought together a number of scholars who are studying institutions in a variety of water resource management contexts using a diverse set of empirical methods. We hope that the exchange of ideas from a range of cases and approaches will help generate new understanding concerning institutional change, and how to study social-ecological systems over time.
